Box Car Racer was a short-lived American rock band formed in 2001 by guitarist and vocalist Tom DeLonge of Blink-182, drummer Travis Barker of Blink-182, and guitarist David Kennedy of Hazen Street. The band was formed during a break from Blink-182, and their sound was more alternative and punk-influenced than Blink-182's.
Box Car Racer released their only self-titled album in 2002, which featured hit singles "I Feel So" and "There Is". The album received positive reviews from critics and sold well, reaching number 12 on the Billboard 200 chart.
Despite their success, Box Car Racer disbanded in 2003, as DeLonge and Barker returned to Blink-182, and Kennedy went on to form his own band. However, Box Car Racer remains a notable and influential part of the early 2000s rock scene.
